Year 9 Outdoor Education

Dwellingup Expedition

Sixty students from the Year 9 Outdoor Education groups participated in the Dwellingup hiking expedition last week. They had the opportunity to practise the hiking and camping techniques they had learned in class during this semester.

On Thursday the students hiked along the King Jarrah trail, covering 18 kilometres. Although challenging at times, it was great that the students were able to overcome the difficulties and complete the trail. The camping and cooking activities in the evening provided them with a chance to further enhance their outdoor skills and bond as a group. The debrief was a valuable opportunity for reflection and sharing their experiences.

The second day of the expedition involved a hike along the Island Pool Walk Trail, where students were given the opportunity to complete a smaller hike than the day before, as well as complete some reflective activities near the Murray River.

Congratulations to the boys who handled the weather's challenges with a smile.

Thank you to Mr Walczak, Mr Truss and Mr Wallis for accompanying the boys and to Mr Ronan and Ms Hughes for joining us on the hike.
