Our campaign & community support continues to grow. We have attracted the attention of mainstream & community media, the support of community organisations, sporting clubs, faith groups, schools & businesses. 

Why? Because the importance of the Preston Market to our community is the common thread that unifies us & that’s why we continue to pressure the government for public acquisition. The owner/developers are threatening to close the market at the end of January 2024.

Like many communities across our state, our people are also experiencing financial hardship with the rising costs of living and in particular, housing. The Preston Market offers a place for people to feel socially included, a meeting place, a multicultural nirvana as well as a place to access affordable fresh produce.

Our next event is on the 12th of August & called Hands Around Preston Market. This is a family friendly event where we are asking our community to join hands & give our market a great big hug to show the world how much we value our market. We encourage kids to wear their school uniforms, or uniforms from their sports clubs, bring signs, drums, pots and pans and bring some colour and make some noise.
