Miss Maira

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Modern Choir recently performed at a Citizenship Ceremony at St Kilda Town Hall. It was a great opportunity for the Year 1-4 students to perform and sing in front of a live audience at such a special event. Some choir members only had two weeks to practice before the big night. The songs performed were “I am Australian”, “Give Us Hope” and “Advance Australia Fair”.

When we arrived, we went to the “green room” where drinks were provided. We found our places on stage once everyone had arrived, and then practiced for a while before being called onto the stage to perform. We sang two songs before heading back to the “green room”. After some light refreshments including party pies, sausage rolls and cupcakes, we went back on stage to sing the national anthem. As we left the stage, the audience clapped and cheered with delight!

We thank Miss Maria for all the effort and time she has put into choir rehearsals. She has been a wonderful teacher for Modern Choir and we really appreciate all that extra work she put in to make this performance possible. We also want to thank the Year 1 and 2 students who worked hard to learn all the words of all three songs so very quickly! Finally, we want to say a big thank you to all the parents and guardians who helped to get children from A to B.

Thank you all!

Claribel Gambhir, Ella Mason and  Anika Dev, Year 4 Choir Leaders.

Grace C (Grade 2) also wrote a beautiful note and drawing about her experience.

Congratulations to all students involved.
