Introducing Amy!
We are pleased to share that Amy Engelbrecht has been appointed to the role of Practice Principal at our Coomera clinic. Many of you will already know Amy who joined the team in 2019, and more recently has worked in the Team Leader role supporting Practice Principal Lara Moes. Lara will now be based entirely at Ashmore, and Lara and Amy will continue to work closely together.
A bit about Amy:
Amy is an Occupational Therapist who has worked in the field of paediatrics since 2007. She studied in South Africa and qualified with her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy before working in a school for children with physical disabilities and general medical conditions. She then began her own private practice after her first son was born in 2010. She immigrated to Australia together with her husband and two busy boys in February 2019 and began working at Early Start Australia Coomera in July of that year.
Since being in Australia Amy has furthered her skillset to support families through attending a wide variety of training, including SOS feeding and toileting.
Amy has been a dedicated paediatric Occupational Therapist for over 15 years and has a passion for supporting children to reach their goals, whether at school or in their daily lives at home. Amy supports children to develop their skill and achieve their goals as well as improve their perseverance, grit and determination.
Her therapy sessions are a safe space for children to overcome obstacles and try ‘hard things’. Children are encouraged to grow both their skill set and their self-esteem. Amy has a special interest in giftedness, ADHD, sensory integration, executive functioning and visual perception.
Congratulations Amy!
Our two Gold Coast teams get creative
The two Gold Coast teams recently created an art piece to reflect and celebrate their growth together as a team. They created twin art works and now have one up in each of the Coomera and Ashmore clinics. Each member of the team created lots of leaves from different media and then put the leaves and other bits and bobs together to create the whole tree. There is even a beehive if you look closely! What a lovely celebration of the unique and wonderful individuals our team members are.
