Welcome back to all our students and families for what will no doubt be a big  Term 3. Students have hit the ground running with getting back to business as we begin term 3 with winter solstice behind us.

Doctors In Schools

It is with great pleasure that we announce that our Doctors In Schools Program has recommenced this term. We are very excited to be in partnership with Lister House Clinic and welcome Nurse Sharon Hedt and Doctor David Wilson to our program. Sharon and Dr Wilson will be in residence in our Doctors in Schools Building each Thursday of the school term from 9am until 1pm. This is a service for all Horsham College students to access and appointments can be made through the Lister House Hot Doc App, clicking on the Horsham College Students link.

Uniform

As the winter weather approaches, students are reminded that Horsham College beanies can be purchased from the Administration Office (the only approved beanie). We would also like to remind students and families that long sleeved plain white and navy blue garments can be worn under Horsham College uniform. Last year, our policy was updated to include a Horsham College Rugby Jumper, sports pants and a soft shell jacket - we are still waiting for this stock to arrive at our supplier, but we will let you know as soon as it does.

Student absences – please contact your child’s year level office if you know your child is going to be absent or they require a pass to be collected for an appointment.

Subject Selection Day

Wednesday 2nd of August brings us to subject selection day for 2024. This day gives students a chance to begin to plan out their future pathways as they enter the senior years. It also gives students in the lower year levels the opportunity to trial electives in fields they may be interested in whilst giving student voice and agency of their schooling.

Visit by International students

Last week we had the pleasure of a visit by members of Horsham Lions Club who were hosting two international students on a 4-6 week visit to Australia. Seb from Milan in Italy and Nil from Israel, were taken on a tour by two members of our student leadership team - Jarrah and Crystal. They were very impressed with our facilities and scope of subjects our students can choose from. Both boys start school at 8am and for Seb, school finishes at 2pm as he goes home to have lunch. Nil was saying in Israel all boys and girls have to go to the army for 3 years and it is the army who helps them choose their career pathway. Both boys learn English at school and were very fluent in their conversations with us.
