WALK TO SCHOOL - Friday 19 May

Tomorrow, Junior School students and staff are taking part in a Walk to School morning. We will depart the Senior School at 9.00am. Please meet on The Neil MacLean Hockey Field in your classes and parents are welcome and encouraged to join us on the walk. Thanks to Mrs Milich and the S.R.C for their organisation of this event.

YOUNG HOUSE SERVICE

Next Tuesday, Young House will present their annual House Service. Their theme for 2023 is resilience. Junior School parents and family are encouraged to attend. Our Chamber Singers will also be part of the Service, which will take place at 10.15am in the Uniting Church on Lonsdale Street.

SEMESTER ONE REPORTS

Junior School Semester One reports will be available to parents via PAM on Friday 23 June. A courtesy paper copy will be sent home with students on the final day of Term Two. Parent/Teacher interviews will be held in early Term Three.

ICAS TESTING - YEARS 2-6

Part of our assessment regime involves students in Years 2 to 6 sitting ICAS REACH tests in English, Spelling and Mathematics. REACH is a suite of annual online benchmarking assessments. It gives teachers accurate, objective data on our students’ progression year on year, allowing schools to tailor their teaching and help fulfil student learning potential. REACH questions are created by experienced teachers, psychometricians and test developers, drawing on decades of rigour and expertise.

Reach assessments are run simultaneously across Australia, New Zealand and countries in southeast Asia and this will be taking place next week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Parents can request access to children’s results. These are generally available 10 to 12 days after the testing window.

STATE REPRESENTATION - HOCKEY

Congratulations to Year 5 student Evie Templeton who has made it into the School Sports Victoria Under 12 Girls Hockey team. Evie will travel with the team to Tasmania in July, where Victoria will take on the other state teams from around Australia.

GREATER WESTERN REGION - BASKETBALL

Congratulations to Yolanda O'Sullivan, Junior School Captain, for making the Team Vic 12YU Girls' Basketball team for the Greater Western Region. This is part of the School Sports Victoria (SSV) program.  Next month, Yolanda will go to a two-day skills and selection trial in Melbourne.

HOCKEY

Division 4 Foxes went down 2-1 to Demons in a close match. Poppy Edgar scored the goal for Foxes and was best on ground.

Division 5 Black Panthers and Tigers squared off against each other in an all-College affair. The 0-0 result did not reflect the open play and shots on goal from both teams. Best on ground were Olive Monk for Black Panthers and Sammie Price for Tigers.

There are no hockey matches this week as a number of GRHA teams will head to Melbourne for Country Week. Best of luck to all College representatives.
