Volunteers

The committee is calling out for volunteers. The committee’s existence heavily relies on parent volunteers with the same mindset of providing our sons with the opportunity to, not only participate in sport, but also engage in healthy behaviours and friendships. This is also an opportunity for parents to experience the same by connecting with other parents.

Sadly as the club continues to grow and develop, the workload is increasingly difficult to manage with such a small group of volunteers. The committee is made up of parents who are also full time/part time workers with families. It has come to the point that without more support, the committee may be forced to reduce the number of teams put forward for season 2 for the KDBA competition. Ideally this is not what we want to happen but it is the direction this is heading.

Player Fill-Ins

Can all team managers please ensure that when requesting a fill in player that you also include what age group and division.

PLAYERS CANNOT play down a division.

A few boys have kindly filled in for teams but as they play in a higher division- this has resulted in the club being fined $$ and the game resulted in a forfeit. It is the responsibility of the team manager to make sure the fill in player is not playing down divisions.

As mentioned previously, the committee is very short of volunteers which result in our committee members doing multiple roles (we also do have full time jobs and families) and are unable to make sure that last minute fill in players meet all criteria and get them on the system before the game starts. 

Once again if we do not get more volunteers, the committee might need to decrease the number of teams that we can have- resulting in boys not being able to play. So PLEASE put your hand up and join us. Many hands makes it so much easier for us all.

Captain for Mazenod Junior Basketball Club

The MJBC Committee is excited to announce that we are looking for a new CAPTAIN (and possibly Vice Captain) for our club. Duties include - representing the club each week at domestic competitions at Ray Owen; being an ambassador for the school and club; being a representative for the athletes from the club at external functions such as our 3x3 competitions or similar; being able to attend committee meetings twice a term (normally held at school in the evening or via Teams) when needed; report any issues or ideas to the Team Coordinator or President of the club.

Requirements - needs to be a current year 10,11 or 12 student enrolled at Mazenod College; needs to be a member of the club for a minimum of 2 consecutive seasons; needs to remain a member of the club for the duration of 2023.

Desirable attributes- coaching a current MJBC team would be desirable but not essential.

Reminders

A reminder to keep checking PlayHQ regularly for game changes during the regular scheduled games. 

KDBA reminders:

• Please read the local playing rules with specific regards to uniforms and game night fill-ins.
• Specific reminder that shorts are not allowed to have pockets.
• Uniform penalties do not apply to shorts with pockets- it is a blanket no play policy as per FIBA rules.
• Uniform penalty points are 5 points per player out of uniform
