GERARD Wins the 2023 House Cross Country Carnival!!
On Friday 5 May the annual House Cross Country Carnival took place. Students from Year 7-12 and some staff ran the gruelling 4km course in challenging conditions. It was great to see the majority of the students do their best for their house. Thanks to all the staff who assisted with the preparations and running of the carnival.
Congratulations to GERARD who were the winning house, with the best overall performance across all year groups. Albini were a close second, followed by Gavin.
The top 8 placed students from Year 7-10, and the top 10 placed students from Year 11 & 12 combined (open age) are automatically selected in the Preliminary Squad for the ACC Cross Country Carnival team. The final squad will be selected based on attendance and performance at training. Training details will be published in the daily notices.
Making his Mazenod Cross Country debut, Mr Dawson (Head of Year 9), was the fastest teacher to complete the course, closely followed by Mr Delaney. Well done!
Below are the top 20 performers from each year group. Congratulations to these students.

Junior Soccer Report Game 2
The Mazenod College Junior Soccer Team played their second game of the Champion Schools Football Cup Season hosting Kelmscott SHS. After a frustrating 2-2 draw last week against Willeton SHS the team was looking to get their first win. The game started with both teams having opportunities on goal in a 10 minute arm wrestle for control of the game.
However, it was Kelmscott SHS who struck first and from that point took control of the match with their pace and strength. In what was a hard game Mazenod went down at the final whistle 11 – 1. While it was a tough result the team should be commended on their effort.
Junior Soccer Report Game 3
The Junior Soccer Team's next game was against Southern River SHS. After a long ball which got through our defence, Southern River scored the first goal. We quickly equalised with Hamish S striking our first goal. Five minutes before half time we were down 2-1 but a goal to Andreas F and a second to Hamish S gave us a 3-2 advantage.
In the second half Mazenod took control of the game. The defence clamped down and shut out Southern River who struggled to get anywhere near the goal. Hamish S completed his day scoring a hat-trick, while Luke H and Lucas R also scored. Mazenod ran out winners 6-2, for their first win of the season. It was a great team performance and a deserved victory. A big thankyou to the parents who again showed up in force to support the team.
The team has a break in games and doesn’t play until week 7 against Lynwood SHS.
