Chaplain’s Spot
What are you thankful for?
Life can seem quite harsh at times. However, I am sure that most of us can name some parts of our lives that are worth rejoicing. It is often the simple things that are the most significant, not the major ones. I was recently started to come up with my top ‘thankful’ list. It is a work in progress:
My faith … family … friends … health … fresh water … a home … food and clothes … cooling and heat … music … hot chocolates … Hi 5’s … sleep … books … rain … warmth of the sun … the gym … mobile phones … kids keep me young … crazy socks … teachers and mentors … etc. etc.
My challenge for you this week is to begin your own list. It can be a list that you add to as you think of more things. ‘Counting your blessings’ has been a theme of songs and poems in past years. This is what we are doing, reminding ourselves within the difficulties of life, that there are still things for which we are thankful. Perhaps create a family list – put it on the fridge, and you might even find your own name on that list! Enjoy this experience.
Don’t Forget:
On June 6th, I will be organising a “Focus on Feelings’ Day, and students are invited to attend between noon and 3.15. There will be poster, worksheets and others resources to assist the students. We will talk about how these feelings arise, and what strategies could be most helpful for them.
Meal Train roster: If you would like to cook a meal during Term 2 – May 22, June 5 and 19, please check out the link. https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/vlwooz
Toast Tuesday roster: Our Term 2 roster for Toast Tuesday helpers is full for the rest of term. I will set up the Term 3 roster shortly.
Second-hand uniforms: We have received more winter items, so check them out on Tuesday morning!
Emergency food items: Each Tuesday morning we will have our non-perishable food trolley at Toast Tuesday. We would welcome any contributions being dropped off then, and we also welcome anyone who would like to take some items for their families.
FRIDAY FUN: Today’s is: Yesterday I saw a guy spill all his Scrabble letters on the road. I asked him, “What’s the word on the street?”
Contact: If you need to contact me, you can email, phone, or see me on my days at school.
