Year 4&5 Basketball Competition

Basketball Madness!
If you were to enter the school at lunchtime and head to the courts, you would be blown away with how many students play basketball at a very competitive level.
So this term, Mr Georgiadis and I have organised a Year 4 & 5 competition with Year 6 students refereeing games. What has been wonderful to see is the students playing with others that they wouldn’t normally play with, and the more experienced basketballers in the group, supporting the less experienced.
Our focus has been on demonstrating good sportsmanship and working as a team. Last week I was particularly impressed with how the Year 4 boys fairly subbed throughout the game and huddled in for pep talks and strategizing at half time. All players finish with thanking the umpires and shaking hands with all involved, and Year 6 students pick two players that showed excellent sportsmanship or leadership throughout the game.
We will be finishing with a Gala Day which will be held on the last day of term, and students will participate in a round robin session.
