Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program

Students from St Brigid's have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage, and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government dedicated funding of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program. The rebate is paid directly to the school, St Brigid's included this rebate in the cost of the camp fee previously charged. We thank the Australian Government for their contribution.

Magnificent Maxes

Congratulations to both Max Manion and Max Cassar on their sensational efforts with their Jiu Jitsu competitions of recent times. Max Manion won Gold at Grappling Industries Melbourne and Max Cassar won Gold at the Victorian Jiu Jitsu Champs. It is so great to see you both pursuing your passions and building your skills in something you love.

Resource Smart Schools Macedon Ranges Schools Sustainability Network

On Wednesday our Sustainability Leaders Nolan, Erin, Tex and Mason represented St. Brigid's at a network meeting with other schools in our area at Newham Primary School. We listened to each school's presentation and got some great ideas for our own sustainability program. A big congratulations to our four leaders who spoke so confidently and proudly about our school's programs.

Term Two Sports Update

Interschool Cross Country

A big congratulations to the St Brigid’s Cross-Country team who competed early in the term at Dixon Field.  Students who finished in the top of their age group at the House Cross Country were invited to represent the school at the Macedon Ranges District competition. Our students did a wonderful job. With the 9/10 boys and girls completing a 2km course, while the 11 and 12/13 boys and girls ran a 3km race.  Well done to all our athletes. An extra big congratulations to Piper Van de Velde and Chase Bartlett who have since gone on to run at the Division Cross Country, Piper finished 5th and Chase finished 8th.  Both students now progress to the Regional level, a very impressive effort.

Senior Interschool Sports

It has been a busy term for the senior sports teams. The boys and girls AFL teams and soccer teams have been busy taking on the other Macedon Ranges District schools at the round robin days.  All our teams have represented the school brilliantly, with our students demonstrating some wonderful individual performances and even more impressive team efforts.  A big thank you to Matt Bourke for coaching the boys AFL team, Miss Turner for coaching the girls AFL and Soccer teams and Tome for coaching the boys’ soccer team.

Pilates in PE

The middle students have been lucky enough to be invited to Pilates Plus Gisborne to try out a Pilates session during their PE lesson. The students had lots of fun stretching and challenging themselves with some planks, squats, lunges and even a few cheeky push ups.  The lesson ended with a lovely meditation allowing everyone to give their tired muscles a rest.
