Year 11 Drama and Music

Earlier in May, both the Year 11 Drama and Music classes accompanied by Mr Mal Dunstan, Miss Rebecca Hof and Mrs Joanne McMillan, visited Melbourne for Academy tours and a professional production.

The Drama students toured through VCA exploring the creative pathways they could pursue after school and were fascinated by the breadth of experiences they could have.

The music students visited JMC Academy to explore their possible study pathways for music and production. All students came away with a new perspective on the opportunities they could explore.

From here all students travelled to Chapel off Chapel in Prahran to view the acclaimed musical production ‘Driftwood’ which has been re-configured for a second short season after success in 2022. The performance follows the true journey of the Duldig family as they flee Vienna upon German occupation of Austria and travel to Australia. The talent of the cast and orchestra blew the students away as they told such a heartfelt tale.

Before we left the students were lucky enough to meet one of the principal cast members, Tania de Jong who portrays her own grandmother Slawa Horowitz-Duldig.
