Year 11 Literature

At Radcliffe’s Echuca, the literature class met famed Australian author, Craig Silvey, writer of hit novels such as Jasper Jones, Honeybee and Runt. The atmosphere was lively and full of anticipation.

Silvey discussed his writing process, describing how he comes up with ideas and how he develops characters. He also answered a variety of questions relating to his creative writing journey, which proved really helpful for our current unit of study.

As Silvey spoke, it was clear that he was passionate about writing and had a deep understanding of his craft (even if he hadn’t read some of his books for ten years)! He was engaging and funny, and his talk was both informative and entertaining. 

Overall, the experience of seeing Craig Silvey was amazing. It was inspiring to hear from such a talented author and learn more about the writing process for producing a novel. Silvey also revealed to us that his novels Honeybee and Runt are in the works for a film!
