Fabulous 5/6

Grade 5/6

Term 2 Week 6 2023 - Friday 2nd  of June 2023

Message from the Teacher:

We have just passed the mid-point of the term and Sam and I are pleased and proud of the progress that everyone is making across the board. The students have continued to study concepts around subtraction in Maths, participate in their Book Clubs during reading and explored the history and culture of Australia’s first people. We have also continued our relationship with North Cheltenham Kindergarten and started our buddies program with the Preps, and the kids have shown terrific leadership and kindness towards the little kids.

Please keep an eye out for Parent/Teacher interview book-ins on Compass, we are looking forward to showing you the progress the students have made.

What have we been up to?

Hi, my name is Clement, and I am a leader in Go Chess, and hi, my name is Kiri, and I am a leader in technology and health.

In the last two weeks, we have been doing many different things. In Maths, we have been learning about what we can do in different time spans. As an example, it takes two hours to do my homework (Clement). We have also been looking at time. For example, 11:14pm to 6am is 6 hours and 46 minutes.

In Writing, we have learnt about paraphrasing which means rewriting a text in your words. For our information reports, I have been writing about Alexander the Great and Martin Cooper (Clement) for homework, and I wrote about Leonardo Da Vinci (Kiri).

In Reading, we have continued reading “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. So far, in our last few chapters, Augustus Gloop fell into the chocolate river and got sucked into a pipe, and Violet Beauregarde turned into a big, humongous blueberry by chewing Willy Wonka’s unsafe gum.

We also have been working with our Kindergarten and prep buddies. We have been playing on the playground and the basketball court with them and showed them the chickens. We also played chase and made chatterboxes. I am with Jake and our prep buddy is Albie (Kiri), and I am with Beau and our Kinder buddy is Archie (Clement).

I am looking forward to keeping on working on my PowerPoint and camp next term (Kiri), and I am excited for camp, too (Clement).
