Round 4 games: Friday 26th May

* FOOTBALLERS:  MUST bring a mouthguard – no mouthguard, no play

*GAMES PLAYED: approx. 1.00pm – 2.30pm.

HOME GAMES:  St Finbar’s 2  vs St Patrick’s Murrumbeena:

Football:   Hurlingham Oval #1 (larger oval), Nepean Hwy, Brighton East. (Mr Tyndall)

Netball:  St. Finbar’s school courts.  (Mrs Howell).

Footballers to be picked up by St. Pat’s bus at 12.50pm, return to school by 2.45pm. 

AWAY GAMES:  St Joan of Arc 1 vs  St. Finbar’s 1: 

Football: William St Reserve, Basil Reserve, William St. Brighton.  (Miss Happell)   

Netball: St. Joan of Arc PS school courts, 30 Dendy St. Brighton (Miss Kay)

To depart at 12.40pm by bus. Return by 3.20pm

HOOPTIME TRYOUTS - begin next week!

Our HoopTime basketball trials are set to begin next week!  All keen Year 5&6 students will trial on Tuesday and Wednesday break times.  Our Year 3&4 trial dates are also locked in and will be held across Week 7 & 8 on the days set out below.   

Students are encouraged to bring suitable basketball sneakers in their school bag on each of their trial days (unless a PE day anyway).  All trials will take place in the hall in case of inclement weather (unless notified).  Teams will be announced in Week 9.

This year our Dendy HoopTime tournament dates are:

Senior (Year 5/6): Friday 21st July @ MSAC

Junior (Year 3/4): Thursday 27th July @ MSAC

HOOPTIME TRIAL DATES & TIMES:

Week 6:  Year 5&6

Wedn 31st May:         Lunch play: Girls,    Snack play: Boys  

Thurs 1st June:           Lunch play: Girls,    Snack play: Boys

Week 7:  Year 3&4

If any final trials are required we will run them in Week 9.

Basketball - Dante S (5T)

We’d like to congratulate our Year 5 student; Dante S. on his very exciting basketball trial achievements so far.  Dante was nominated by St. Finbar’s back in term 1 to try out for this year’s School Sports Victoria (SSV) State 12&U basketball team.  If successful in all three trial stages, Dante will be selected in the team of 10 and represent Victoria at the SSA National Basketball tournament in August, this year being held in Perth!  

So far Dante has been successful in trialling at the Stage 1 (Division trials) and this week was again able to show his talents well at the Stage 2 trials (Southern Metro & Gippsland Region), which were held out at the Casey Stadium in Cranbourne East.  Dante was thrilled to be one of the 13 boys selected at the end of these tough trials. 

We wish Dante all the very best as he now progresses onto the final Stage 3 State Selection camp, which is to be held over two days in early June at the Waverley Basketball stadium.  We have no doubt he’ll keep striving to do his best, remain humble and represent St. Finbar’s with pride!  Good luck Dante…
