Student Leadership

This year Thornbury High School launched a new student leadership structure, introducing four new student-led committees that provide a wider range of student leadership opportunities. Our passionate and dedicated School Captains Lucy Youston, Tara Mevissen, Catherine Hamilton and Harry Ashbrooke have diligently recruited like minded students and staff to establish the Civics and Citizenship Committee, Academic Committee, Arts Committee, and the Sport Committee respectively.

In Term 1 our School Captains collaborated with the Year 10 Peer Supporters to encourage students and staff to celebrate International Women’s Day. With professional profiles and shout outs to inspirational women filling the school atrium, the School Captains and Peer Supporters rallied the school community to make a commitment to gender equality, responding to the prompt ‘Each for Equal’ to create an equality pledge board.

Despite the challenges faced during remote learning, our devoted School Captains continued to demonstrate their commitment to promoting student voice, encouraging student engagement and positive connections in our school community during isolation. If you'd like to get involved in our Student Leadership program, feel free to contact me or reach out to one of our fabulous School Captains.
