Library News

As many public libraries close, students have been taking full advantage of our fantastic library collection and stocking up on books for the holidays.

Thornbury High School Library is excited to announce that we now have ebooks and audiobooks available for download. For further details andto access the collection check out our library catalogue  here

or browse the Wheelers  here

The library has been busy getting ready to welcome back students with approximately 20,000 books reshelved and rearranged! Year 11 VCAL students undertook a time management project to assist librarians with this massive task. The library has never looked better with new furniture and new shelving.

Don’t forget the library catalogue is online and available 24/7. Access via compass or here: https://au.accessit.online/THR06/

The catalogue includes not only the listing of physical books available in the library, but also a curated collection of over 18,000 authoritative websites suitable for student study. A key focus in research classes has been to assist students to use the library catalogue to find information because our library resources are reliable and trustworthy.

The library has been busy adding new eBooks for research to our library catalogue. These are downloadable pdf books on various topics including Australian history, geography, health, food tech, social issues and more! Students can access our eBook collection when they log into the library catalogue at school or at home.

There has never been a better time to read a good book. Reading for leisure provides an escape from everyday pressures and is proven to reduce stress. If students are looking for reading inspiration they can go to the library catalogue and select “books and wide reading” https://au.accessit.online/THR06/. There students can find author interview videos, links to book excerpts, book review websites and everything students need to be inspired to read.
