5/6s Week 7

Our Grade 5/6 students should be proud of the way they have adapted so well to remote learning. They continue to work hard to complete online tasks and give feedback to their peers and are staying connected to their classmates through regular Google Meets and virtual community circles. And now, they have only a week and a bit to go before they can return to the classroom!

Just as the students have adapted to new behaviours and habits in remote learning, their integrated unit has focussed on studying the adaptations of plants, animals and humans. Using their new understandings, they’ve even created their own perfectly adapted creatures, capable of surviving even the harshest conditions:

Australian Mountain Giraffe by Jamison

Kangabees in the Desert by Jarvis

Ahgoon by Lelle

During this term’s reading sessions, students have focussed on the human impacts on the land by investigating First Australian’s land use, immigration, local industries, infrastructure and climate change.

In numeracy, they have practised their addition and subtraction strategies and some of the grade 6s have challenged themselves to apply these skills so they can plan to get a “Flight outta here!”

As always, we welcome you to make contact with your child’s teacher through their gmail account if you have any questions.

Regards,
