Principal's Message

Mr Paul Clohesy

Great to see those smiling faces

Dear families,

It was a delight having all our staff and students back on site at the beginning of last week. While we expect it to take a little bit of time for all students to transition back to fact-to-face teaching, the staff and I are very happy with the way our students have returned and how happy they appear to be being back with their peers.

Congratulations to our VCE students who have had to deal with a high number of assessments on their return. Understandably, a number of teachers held off running assessments remotely once the announcement of a return to school was made. While this has resulted in some extra pressure in the short term, our students have responded extremely well and we are very proud of them.

It was exciting to hear over the weekend that camps and excursions might be possible from next term. While we are still waiting for details around this, it gives us a glimmer of hope that Top End and the Ski Trip may yet be a possibility. As soon as we get clarification around these events, we will communicate this with all our families.

It is quite incredible to think that we are fast approaching the end of term 2 and that we are halfway through the year. I think all our students, staff and families deserve a break and I hope the term 2 holidays provide this opportunity.

Enrolment interviews for our 2021 Year 7 cohort took place during week 8. We spread the interviews over three days so we could observe hygiene and social distancing regulations. It is pleasing to report that there has been high demand from current Year 6 families to secure a place at Trinity College for 2021, so much so that the College Board has approved us enrolling six Year 7 classes. It was lovely to meet many of the students and their families and fantastic to see so many families choosing a Catholic education for their children.

Finally, I wanted to officially thank Leanne Eastman for the contribution she has made to Trinity College as Director of Students since the beginning of 2018. Leanne’s work was based on the development of strong relationships with staff and students. Leanne was a strong advocate for our students and showed compassion and care when they needed it most. Leanne’s work with the student leaders has also been exceptional. Through her work, Leanne ensured students were given a voice in the direction their school was heading. She also fostered the College values of respect, responsibility, positivity and punctuality within our community.

Please see Leanne's farewell message in this newsletter.

On behalf of the entire Trinity College community, we wish Leanne every success with her transition into principalship and thank her for all she has given to Trinity College during her time here.
