Positive Climate for Learning:

School Expected Behaviours Matrix

As you will be aware, the school community uses an expected behaviours matrix which help us and the students understand the behaviours we agree on to adhere to around the school.

These expected behaviours are important as they help keep ourselves, others, and the property around us safe. There are 2 visual behaviour matrix's the school uses, one for the classroom and one for the playground.

The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Team has been continuing to work this year on writing the curriculum for each of the learning areas identified in these matrix. This curriculum will help explicitly teach students how to 'Look after themselves', 'Look after others' and 'Look after property'.  This curriculum fits in to the schools School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports program, and focuses on the prevent / teach / reinforce approach towards keeping our school a positive a safe place to learn.

Flexible and Remote Learning Survey Results

The Reading and Student Voice and Agency School Improvement Teams (SIT) developed a Flexible and Remote Learning (F&RL) survey for JSA staff, to capture the impact of their work during this period in Term 2. Here are some significant results that are specifically related to student voice, agency and leadership.

  • 78.57% of teachers continued to support students to use their personalised communication system during F&RL.
  • 85.71% of teachers felt like they effectively engaged their students during F&RL.
  • 93.55% of ES Staff felt well equipped to use online communication systems (i.e., See-Saw, WebEx, google Drive and emails) to aid their ES practices during F&RL.
  • 96.67% of ES Staff felt that the school’s choice of communication systems (i.e., See-Saw and WebEx) facilitated student voice and agency during F&RL.
  • 87.09% of ES Staff felt that the school maintained its pride and connectedness within the school.

This feedback, in conjunction with the parent / carer feedback, highlight the success of the learning that took place during this time. The school is currently in the process of collecting student feedback from remote and flexible learning. All this feedback will be used as data for the SIT to direct the next steps in meeting the schools goals in the annual implementation plan for positive climate for learning.

Positive Behaviour Support Tickets (PBS)

Last week it was Red House Team Captains turn to count and read out the results of the PBS tickets. Thank you Abubakar and William for taking the time to do this, and congratulations to all those students who have won a prize the past few weeks for earning the most tickets for their house. Here are some photos;
