Zoom Phonogram Scavenger Hunt

For our last Literacy Zoom for Term 3  we had a ‘Phonogram Scavenger hunt” with the students. They had to find things in their house with different phonograms. We had so much fun and the kids found lots of things around their home.

We have had many fun events happening during Term 3 in our Zoom Devotions on Monday Mornings...

Celebrate the end of winter wearing your favourite onesie or winter outfit

“To celebrate the end of Winter and the beginning of spring, the Year 2s dressed up in their favourite onesie or winter outfit. We had so much fun together.”

Bring your pet/toy to zoom day

“The Year 2s had an opportunity to introduce their class to their pet or toy. We had so much fun meeting each other’s pets and toys and hearing and hearing all about them.”

Favourite book character day

“The Year 2s had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book or bring along their favourite book to our Zoom. We had so much fun hearing about what each other enjoy reading.”

Health

In Health this term, the Year 2s have been looking at emotions. The students had a project of creating a skit demonstrating how we can show one of the fruits of the spirit in our everyday life and how they can help us with our emotions. Attached are videos of skits put together by Eelyn Zhang (2H) and Cassia Letten (2M).

Literacy

The Year 2s have been very busy during Literacy this term. Earlier in the term the students looked at ‘Rhyming Riddles’. They had to solve some provided and then were given the challenge of creating their own. Attached are some riddles create by some Year 2 students. Can you solve them?

Also in Literacy the students looked at persuasive writing. Before students had a go at writing their persuasive piece they were challenged to convince the Year 2 teachers that “We need three day weekends” In a video. Below are some persuasive videos from the Year 2s, are you convinced we need three day weekends?

THE POWER OF COLLABORATIVE LEARNING

Learning with other students can be a very powerful way to improve your learning outcomes. There are many benefits to learning to work with others.

MOTIVATION: Studying together can be much more motivating than studying on your own.

DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING: Discussing with a friend, being able to bounce ideas off each other, ask each other questions – all of these activities help strength networks and deepen understanding.

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES: Sometimes we don’t realise that we are only looking at things in one particular way and there are different and diverse viewpoints to ours. Learning with a friend can help students see things in a different light and broaden their perspective.

BUILD TEAMWORK SKILLS: Learning to cooperate, negotiate and problem solve with other people is a great skill to have in later life.

During the September school holidays, there will be a SCAVENGER HUNT for students in Years 9-12. Found out more details and register here
