Stage of the Week

Kindergarten

Welcome to our new section called 'Stage of the Week'. Between now and the end of the year, we would like to feature in each edition of Bytes, a different stage in our school.

This edition of Bytes we are featuring the lovely Early Stage 1 (otherwise known as Kindergarten!). Here is a report from Mrs Longfield about some of the amazing things our Kindergarten students have been up to during Term 3.

Kindergarten celebrates 100 days!

Wednesday 5 August signified 100 days of school for our Kindergarten children. This year

has been a very different year with a combination of flexible learning at home and classroom learning here in the Kindy classrooms!! To celebrate this significant milestone, whether learning from home or at school, we wanted to make this a wonderful occasion by enjoying a fun day where the children experienced 100 through many different activities.

To show off the children’s wonderful T-Shirt creations, the two Kindy classes combined for our own little Early Stage 1 fashion show. The children took to the Catwalk to model their T-shirt and accessories. We have some aspiring little models in our midst.

Kindergarten Artists

During this term Kindergarten are investigating colour. We are looking at the magnificent beauty of colour in the environment God has created and in His handiwork in nature. We have done a lot of work on mixing colours, particularly tinting and shading colours of the ocean. The children are wonderful at remembering the primary, secondary and tertiary colours. We have also talked about how colour makes us feel and we are enjoying undertaking some artist studies, looking at water in particular in their art.

Artists we have been looking at include Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, David Hockney, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky and Mary Cassette. Many of these are abstract artists, just like some of our Kindy students.

To complement our learning the children have become engaged in the Creative Arts in many forms. Please enjoy a little sneak peak of some of Kindy’s body of work which will be showcased during Week 10 at our Annual Kindergarten Art Exhibition. Watch out for more information coming out in the coming weeks.
