Food Technology

The month of August saw all levels of students developing greater confidence in the kitchen. Students extended their skills to design, plan, produce and evaluate their own products. They also completed Research CATs,

SACs and Production SACs.

Year 7 extended their skills to produce Pizza Swirls and planned their own designed “Stuffed Potato”. The students have focused on the Healthy Diet Pyramid to assess healthy food.

 

Year 8 designed and created healthy Stir Fries and planned their own individual Pizzas. They made some simple meals such as Tacos. They are working on the CAT - Investigation of Macro and Micro Nutrients.

Year 8 Master Chef students learnt the skills of scone making and then invented a flavoured scone in various shapes and sizes. Students then used their creative skills by applying decorating techniques with plating up a dessert and then took on the challenge of presenting a showstopper product.

Year 9

Multi- Cultural Munching have travelled through Asia and designed a Fried Rice.

The Bodyshop looked at nutrient functions and followed this topic by creating their own Gourmet Healthy Hamburger.

Year 10 focused on The Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and planned their own Frittata. Create your own by using the following “How to Cook Frittata”.

Year 11 designed a Rice Dish that would be suitable for the canteen (SAC). They also have investigated Food Biosecurity and Food Standards in Australia.

Year 12 have investigated the topical issues of food sustainability and ethics. They have also been busy making the complex pastry Puff Pastry and utilizing it in an Apple Tart Tatin.

All students have applied themselves with designing and creating with success.
