Principal's Report

Principal's Report
A warm welcome to new students and families in Years 7 and 8, but also to those beginning in Year 9, 10 and 11. We also welcome our ten new staff members, and welcome back all of our students and staff as we begin a new year at Endeavour.
Our theme for Term 1 is community – and how apt this is as we begin the year. A community is developed where there is:
- A common sharing of place and space. Those returning come to a place that is familiar and comfortable, where there is a sense of belonging and ownership. I hope that those joining our community over time, also feel a sense of connection with the College.
- A place where relationships are grown and developed. Our relationships are essential to the functioning of a school where 700 students and staff work and learn. Committing to get to know teachers, other students and their parents, and contributing to the community in areas that we enjoy, helps to build a sense of ownership and belonging.
- A common set of values and goals. Endeavour is a Christian community where we strive to embrace the values of Love, Courage, Forgiveness and Hope in the way we build community. We also have a common way we approach learning through the Vision for Learning principles - Purposeful, Inclusivity, Risk Taking and Shared Responsibility.
I look forward to exploring this theme and helping to continue to strengthen our community ties.
Over the break, there have been quite a few staffing changes to accommodate staff who have retired or are on leave. We welcome the following teaching staff: Christos Anemouri, Courtney Bond, Emmett Cashel, Rebecca Corcoran, Rachael Facchin, Alison Slater and Stephanie Sheridan.
Recent old scholar, Daniel van der Ploeg joins our IT Support Team and Toni Fullerton is our new Student Services Receptionist with whom many of you will be in contact.
We also welcome Peter Pearse our new Deputy Principal. Simon Maddern will assume the role of Director of Middle Years during Term 1 and Louisa Mulligan begins as the Director of Middle Years from Term 2.
Over the break much maintenance was conducted including work in the grounds and painting inside and outside of the building. We thank staff who contribute to our community with their skills in these areas.
Thank you to the students and staff who contributed to the production of ‘The Catch’ that should reach homes in the coming days, and reflects the wonderful achievements and events that occurred during 2016. A special thank you to Editor, Amanda Stephenson.
I pray that everyone beginning at Endeavour College in 2017 have a wonderful and rewarding year and that together we build and grow our community!
Blessings
