meditation

You meditate - even though you may not realise it.

Whenever your mind wanders during a dull conversation, you "wake up" after driving on a road you know like the back of your hand, you lie in bed at night worrying: churning over and over a problem, or you "zone out" while watching a campfire or sunset - you enter a natural state of meditation.

Christians have practised meditation for 2000+ years.

The book of Psalms is a textbook in meditation (just read Psalm 1)!

Right back at death of Moses, Joshua instructs God's people to meditate on God's Word (Joshua 1.6).

I have been a student of Christian Meditation for many years and have shared my experience with staff and students at Good Shepherd. I've found it a powerful way to "ground myself" in hard times, deal with my chronic pain and find peace in daily life.

Currently I'm developing a heap of resources for an elective in Meditation at the "Adventurous Conference".

My goal is to make it easy for time-poor modern people to practice Christian Meditation simply with their phone and a set of headphones.

If you've got 3 minutes and would like to "have a go", simply visit https://soundcloud.com/stephenabraham/ and look for "Breathing Meditation version 1 Demo".

Its just an introduction to one of many forms of Christian meditation I'll be demonstrating.

If you'd like to attend the conference on the 10th November at Endeavour College check out https://www.facebook.com/adventurousconference/ .

If you can't make it but would like to know more about this, just contact me via Good Shepherd.

May God's Peace be with you this week.
