Room 21 Anglicare Visit
The Year 2s from Room 21 are making regular visits to Grange Anglicare this year.
On our last visit we performed songs including the Australian National Anthem, Feathers Furs and Fins and Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree. The residents enthusiastically joined in with us too.
To finish off our time together, the students and residents created an Australian animal picture together.
YEAR 3 CAMP at SWAN REACH
Caving at Camp Illawonga
‘Woosh’ as I rubbed my eyes because sand went in them. I thought it was a dream. As we walked deeper and deeper into the cave it got hotter and hotter.
On Wednesday when I got to camp I went caving with the Keen Beans.
‘Click, click, click’ everyone’s lights went out. We had to turn off our lights for thirty seconds. ‘Click’ the final light went out. I whispered “It will be alright there are no creepy crawlies in here.”
We walked, walked and walked until we finally got to where we could take a fossil home. “Yes” I got a fossil. “Yay” I said to myself. Darren checked it. It was just a rock that I found. I found a heart shaped fossil. “Finally, I have a fossil” I said to myself. It felt like a million years old.
After what felt like a thousand years inside the cave, we got to go back. I was so sad. ‘Zoom’ but we were not going back. We were going to the BIG TREE. We got to use our imaginations. My friends and I played a silly Harry Potter game.
We had to walk up the steep hill. We saw Darren and Jaz driving up the hill. “No fair” I said. I was super excited to tell all of my friends about my fun day.

Caving
‘Doof, bang, clank’ went my helmet as I went through the small dusty holes. My light began to flicker.
On Wednesday afternoon the Keen Beans and I were caving for fossils in a cave along the Murray River.
‘Click, click, click’ I heard as everyone turned their torches off. Leila and I huddled up together. After a couple of seconds we turned our torches back on and kept on walking.
“Leila, Leila, Leila, look here I found a fossil.” I ran over to Jaz but I stumbled and lost my fossil. I kept on looking but it was no use so I just had to find a different one.
‘Doof’ went the boat as it hit the land. We all went out and walked through a couple of trees until we saw a gigantic old brown tree with tee-pees everywhere. Eloise, Leila and I played Harry Potter. We used sticks for brooms and we pretended that the tee-pees were Hogwarts. ‘Crunch, crunch, crunch’ went our feet.
After a tiring day we went back to the campsite wondering what we will do tomorrow.

Archery
‘Screech, bam, clap, clap, clap’ I saw Tom shoot his bow and arrow. He nearly got a bullseye. “Next” said Shona. “I’m next,” I whispered to myself.
On Thursday it was the Keen Beans turn to go to archery. Before we went Ollie and I helped Shona set up.
When it was my turn I looked at the wall next to me and then turned my head to the target. ‘Screech, BAM.’ “Aww I missed it” I cried.
When it was my second shot I hit the target but it was the blue one. My next shot was even more accurate because it hit the bullseye!
When we were done at archery we headed to the Recreation Room and I played Table Tennis with Daniel and Tom. I was so happy that I hit a bullseye at archery.
