Hola and welcome to Term 3!

The term has commenced on a positive note, although we are a few students short with some away on extended holidays! Can't wait to hear about all of the holiday news and experiences that our absent students can share upon their return!

Students have been approaching their learning with a growth mindset and collaborating with each other on learning tasks. Our Year 4 students 'come out of their shell' to share their ideas with more confidence. This, in part, is due to the support that our Year 5 and 6 students have provided to make our younger students feel included and valued in our classroom community. Muchas gracias, estudiantes!

A major highlight of this term thus far has been our NAIDOC Day- enjoy the photos!

Maths

Our Maths Builders program has been successful with the introduction of "Number Talks"- an opportunity for students to share their understandings and strategies when solving mathematical problems or discussing key concepts.

Students are able observe different ways of viewing a problem and understand different ways of solving it. They use their critical thinking skills and have their approaches validated by the group. "Defending my Answer" plays a large role in students' articulating their thinking in a clear and concise manner and the level of participation in our Maths Collectives has been worth noting.

In the English classrooms, the key focus is on multiplication and division, while the Spanish classrooms are reinforcing addition and subtraction concepts learned in Term 2.

Literacy

In Literacy, classrooms teachers continue to work with students to achieve their individual learning goals, which have been drafted during conferences in Weeks 1 and 2.

Students have been successful in the Spanish classroom, with an increased understanding of new vocabulary through the use of mentor texts and lots of practise!

Parent Helpers

We have had a fantastic response from parents available to assist us this term. A timetable will be sent to participating parents in Week 3.
