Swinburne Space Program

Our students have done us proud again - getting the Best Research award in the Swinburne space program this year!!

A huge congratulations to Isabella P, Rupini M, Dawson C, Ally D and Neha H all of Year 10 for their consistent efforts throughout the 6 week program.

The judges were impressed with the high calibre of work done consistently over the 6 weeks often surpassing their graduate students.

The Swinburne Space Program aims to inspire students to imagine careers in space and compete to create the best experiment to launch into space.

The school recently purchased a state of the art 3D printer the Ultimaker S5 to support the Year 12 students with their projects in Systems Engineering and other subjects where high precision and/or big volume printing is required.  This recently printed project designed by Year 12 Systems Engineering student Richard M whose project is a cosplay item 'the ATLAS gauntlet' in the Netflix show 'Arcane'.

Richard designed this completely by himself in Fusion 360 and printed it over 7 days.

Friends of STEAM (FOSTEAM) Showcase and Trivia Evening

Are you interested in Science and Technology, looking for a challenge or just need a good reason to get out of the house and support the school?

Well... the Friends of STEAM (FOSTEAM) are hosting a STEAM Showcase and Trivia Evening for you and the rest of the Viewbank College Community.

If you haven't heard of it before, STEAM is for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, which together have produced so many of the wonderful technologies that have change our society.

To celebrate Science Week and the great work that the VBC students have done, Viewbank College will open its doors on the evening of Thursday the 25th of August.

The free STEAM showcase will start the evening at 6:30pm with a wide range of student works and projects on display. This is an opportunity to see and celebrate the variety of activities the students have done over the last couple of years.

This will be followed at 7:30pm with the Friends of STEAM Trivia Night in the PAC.

Tables of 8 people will work together to go through a few rounds of STEAM related questions and activities for the chance to win prizes on the night or from buying tickets in the STEAM Raffle (raffle information will be available soon on Compass).

All the money raised from the evening will go towards improving the STEAM facilities at Viewbank College so the students can continue to grow and learn more about STEAM.

So  keep Thursday the 25th of August free for you to celebrate and support STEAM at Viewbank College.
