Children’s Book Week Dreaming With Eyes Open...
Children’s Book Week runs from 22nd - 26th August. The theme is ‘Dreaming With Eyes Open…’. Students have been investigating the shortlisted books for the Book of the Year Awards.
The students are really looking forward to putting up their votes in a few weeks. We always do this the week before Book Week, so that the students get their votes in before the judges announce their choice of winners. These will be announced at 12:00pm on Friday 19th August via the CBCA website.
If you are interested in learning more about the shortlisted books pop in to the Library to have a look or chat to us about the best in children’s books for 2021-2022.
During Book Week at lunchtime we will be doing some activities such as making dream catchers, posters, code breaking and making a song. There will also be some competitions for students to enter.
Book Character Parade
To celebrate Children’s Book Week, we are having an out of uniform day on Friday 26th August.
Our annual Book Character Parade will take place at the school assembly on that morning from 10:00am to 10:45am. This will be after the celebration of the Feast of St Augustine and Senior Student Leadership speeches at 9:00am. F-6 students will have an opportunity to walk around the hall to music, showing their costume efforts to other classes in F-6 and families.
All students and staff are asked to come dressed as a book character or something related to our ‘dreaming’ theme. There is no cost involved, just a chance to have fun with stories, books and dress ups. There are some ideas at:
