Principal’s Message

COVID-19:

It is difficult to believe that only a few weeks ago our lives were normal and now, everything has changed.  It has been an extraordinary time, filled with  uncertainty.  As of last Friday, the Australian Government has implemented "Stage 2" restrictions and advised that people should only leave their house for essential activities.  From today, the school will be operating on a greatly reduced staff, with the majority of teachers and support staff working from home.   I greatly appreciate the efforts of the staff who worked hard to create learning from home packs for our students with very little notice.  Since then, we have been working on planning for Term 2 which may involve the majority of learning online.

Following the advice from the Premier on Monday in relation to students attending school, we have seen a substantial decrease in attendance  with only 9 students in attendance today.  I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all of our school families who have been able to keep their children at home.  I understand that for some essential workers this is not possible and we are endeavouring to provide a calm and supportive school environment for those students, even though it is not business as usual for anyone.

Many of our school families are experiencing extremely difficult times with loss of income and great uncertainty.    It is really important that we try to keep connected as much as possible so over the coming days we will try to make contact with families to touch base and see how you and your children are going.  We will communicate updates to our school families via the usual channels.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all members of our school community - students, staff, families and friends at this challenging time.

May God bless you,

Katie Hanes
