Principal's News

Message from Mr Russo

Dear Parents

I hope this newsletter finds you all safe and well. By now we are beginning to enjoy the first wave of changes, easing some restrictions which we have lived through over the past weeks. Part of these changes will see our students gradually return to onsite learning in two stages, our F-2 students on 26 May and our Year 3-6 students following on 9 June.

Details about the transition back to onsite learning will follow in the coming days, as practices and procedures designed to promote the health and safety of all in our community will also mean that our school will operate differently than it has in the past.

This week we have seen the results of a number of our Year 5/6 students in the cooking challenge as they have worked towards what could possibly be described as our own version of MasterChef. The competition between Mr Cochrane and the students has been a highlight.

Our onsite remote learners have also been having fun, undertaking their remote learning tasks and also being able to watch further works undertaken here at school to enhance our playground and classrooms.

As with any changes, they are embraced by us all in many and varied ways. I will publish the operational changes to families as soon as possible next week, as I am still awaiting further advice to arrive from Catholic Education Melbourne in relation to a number of procedural matters. All new/different procedures will evolve and change in light of the directions provided by the Federal/State Governments and Catholic Education Melbourne.

I hope you all stay safe and well as we begin the transition back to more connected ways of living. I’m looking forward to the return of AFL football so I can continue to support the Magpies to another premiership! We know how well they perform outside a regular fixture!

Vote for Amelia

Some good news !  At the end of last term and during remote learning, some of our Gardening Club students designed a t-shirt for Planet Ark's National Tree Day. Amelia W's (5/6WR) design has been shortlisted and the result now depends on votes.

You can vote for Amelia on the website. The designs with the most votes will get turned into t-shirts. Get your family and friends voting for Amelia's beautiful design.  Well done Amelia, we are really proud of you!

Family Week

Family Week 15th -21st May.  As a celebration of Family Week we are asking all children to create a family artwork (one per family). The classroom teachers will be communicating this with the children The art work is to include the family name, a drawing or photo of the family and maybe words or pictures to describe the family's favourite activities or places. These need to be scanned or a photo taken and sent to familyweek@sbmord.catholic.edu.au by Tuesday 19th May. They will be collated and shared with the community.
