Welcome to Term 2!

Hi everyone and welcome to Term 2! While we are all currently navigating new territory, I know that we are up for the challenge and that we will all thrive in our learning.

I hope you all had a lovely holiday break with your families. I know I certainly enjoyed slowing down and embracing the extra time at home with my husband Steve and our little girl Harper. I spent lots of time singing at my piano and watching a different Broadway musical every day. Many of the students know that my favourite musical is Hamilton and I can now proudly say that I know all the words to the entire score! My rapping isn't quite up to scratch yet, but I promise that once we all come together again, I'll be ready to  share my new talent with you all.

I have had some questions about the Stomp program that was supposed to be running this Term. Fear not, all is not cancelled. I have been in contact with Sarah and we have rescheduled Stomp to Term 4. This will provide the opportunity for us to share our learning in dance at the annual Christmas extravaganza.

I hope you all enjoyed accessing your first Performing Arts lesson for Term 2 on Compass this week. I hope that the technology was kind to you all and you were able to access the online portions of the lessons. If you encounter any difficulties, please get in touch with me and we will work through the challenges together. Please know that the lessons are completely flexible and if you have to make some of your own changes along the way, that is more than okay. Do what you can, with what you have.

Over the coming weeks I challenge you to learn a new song, choreograph a dance and listen to the soundtrack of a Broadway musical. You are very welcome to share your thoughts with me via email, request a  zoom session or ask any questions.

A great resource to access while you are at home is the Jams for Juniors online hub, presented by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Each week the orchestra uploads videos of the musicians playing, as well as some home activities to encourage a love of music. Level 1 and 2 students may find the instrument craft activities particularly helpful over the next few weeks. You can access Jams for Juniors here: https://www.mso.com.au/jams-for-juniors-online/

Embrace the extra time at home together.  Until next time, keep smiling and sing proud!
