P.E, SPORT & HEALTH NEWS

Welcome back!

Hello wonderful Rolling Hills families!

I hope your Term 2 has gotten off to a smooth start!

Let me start with a huge shout out to Scarlett C in Grade 6! Towards the end of Term 1 Scarlett trialed for the School Sports Victoria TeamVic Cricket team. She breezed through the first round of selections and I am confident that she would have gone all the way to State if the opportunity were available (unfortunately the event has been canceled this year). Well done Scarlett!

With our current social distancing measures in place I know that some people may be feeling a bit miserable and bored. Physical activity can really help with that, it is a great mood booster, so much fun and great for your body, so I encourage you to get up and get moving! Why not use this extra time to enjoy some time moving with your family, achieve some great fitness goals and hone your skills in your favourite sports. To assist you in this I have created 5 different pathways for you to choose from to find physical activity ideas.

  1. Weekly Wednesday lesson plans on compass including an assessment task in Week 3 so that I can give you some tips on how to improve your skills (compulsory)
  2. Weekly weekend fun Facebook Challenges- congratulations to our first winner Tayla A from 5/6H who completed some amazing trampoline back flips and more! A special mention to Ryley 3/4A, Sammy 1HM, Cooper 5/6L and Laila 3/4 P, for there awesome tricks as well! (optional)
  3. A grid of quick and easy family physical activities for you to choose from that can be found on compass (optional)
  4. A Rolling Hills Primary School Google drive that contains a Whole School daily fitness challenge that involves students (and other family members) completing pre, middle and post fitness testing (yes this is for ALL of the students who keep asking me can we pleeeease do the beep test 😊), then participating in daily fitness training sessions. I will be adding a fun new fitness clip each day to complete, there will be a range of styles such as Dance, Boxing, Yoga, Tabata, Pilates and more. The student in each year level that achieves the greatest improvement in their fitness results will win a Basketball at the end of the Term, adults will win a different prize- TBC.. (optional)
  5. For the students who are missing their out of school sport specifically Netball, AFL, Soccer, Rugby and Tennis, I have also included folders in the google drive that contain heaps of training drills and games that you can do from home. I will be regularly adding to this and you will be able to see the new additions instantly. Don't let this break result in you getting rusty! (optional)

To access the Google Drive open Google up on your device, click sign in, enter rhpspe@gmail.com into the email address section, click next, then enter RHPSPE3138 into the password section, click next. You will then be signed in and can click the dots in the top right hand corner then select drive. I have attached photos of the steps below to guide you through the process.

If you have any questions or would like anymore physical activity options please don't hesitate to contact me on minton.stevie-lee.s@edumail.vic.gov.au, I am happy to support you in anyway I can.

Happy moving everyone,

Miss. Minton
