Hallinan Library

It’s very exciting! The Primary Library’s new furniture has arrived. The new furniture is ideal for all the students who visit our library from the Early Learning children to Year 6. There is a contemporary feel to the space, with coloured ottomans and wave tables. The modular tables allow flexible seating arrangements and are covered with a writeable surface for group brainstorming. The ottomans are lightweight and allow students to work at tables or sit around reading for pleasure.

We would sincerely like to thank the Parents and Friend’s committee for their generous contribution. We welcomed them for a visit during their recent meeting to see the impact it has made in the library.

We have also purchased some cushions to add to the relaxed feel and provide a “cosy environment” as requested by the students.

Friday saw the last of our Book Week events. The Year 4-6 students skyped author Tristan Bancks.  He provided much entertainment as he talked about his inspiration for the humorous My Life series.  We are hoping our students might have provided him with an idea for a short story about students needing to make an escape from a library. We will need to keep reading his new instalments to see if we feature. He talked about his newest novel, The Fall and promoted Two Wolves. Both of these novels are fast-paced thrillers. The boys were given the opportunity to ask questions and interact with Tristan.

We would also like to remind our departing Year 12s to return any books they currently no longer require. As per usual there will be textbook collection tubs available for returns during the exam period. The earlier books are returned the easier it is for library staff to prepare them for use by the incoming cohort. Any books lost or unreturned will require replacing and invoices will be sent out before the end of the year.
