YEAR 12 CAREER ACTION PLAN

During the year 12 Study Skills Day on Wednesday 6th February students were asked to complete their Career Action Plan which are going to be used as a reference point for when they meet with me for their one to one careers conversation this year.

The primary focus of these career conversations will be to assist each student with making informed career decisions about which direction they wish to take beyond year 12. Discussions will be centred on student’s interest areas, what their passionate about, what they enjoy doing and options that they could be considering. Students were advised that regardless of their desired destination – university, tafe, apprenticeship or employment – they needed to commence their career research now! Various career research websites were provided to them to assist with this research.

Career conversations will commence in March and go through until Term 3. I have strongly encouraged students to seek out career information/assistance throughout the year so that they can be as prepared as possible prior to end of year exams.

In addition to the above assistance, year 12 students were advised that they will be emailed regularly so it was vital that they checked their email account at least once per day. Emails will include such things such as – career profile information, career events/tertiary open days/courses, VTAC course application process and key dates, tertiary assessments such as UCAT (formerly UMAT), CASPSER test etc.

I wish all the year 12s a successful year and look forward to supporting them with their journey.
