St Kilda Footballers visit us at Ripponlea for a kick

At Tuesday lunchtime this week, we were fortunate to round off our kicking unit and test out our AFL skills with a few professionals from Saint Kilda Football Club. Josh Bruce, Jack Billings and Luke Dunstan answered questions from our students, had a kick and even had a race. They came with some great prizes; scarves and caps which they signed and gave to some lucky students. What a great way to spend lunchtime!

SPORTS STARS 2019

I am creating a sports star board in the corridor as a highlight of student’s achievements in high level sport outside of school. To complete this board of inspiration, I would like students to bring in a picture of the sport they are achieving success in e.g. regional, state, national level and a little blurb about their achievements. This is an ongoing process for the year. This can also be emailed to me at ritson.joanne.j@edumail.vic.gov.au

Here’s an example:

Aidan Pidgeon

An Irish dancing competition is called a feis (pronounced ‘fesh’). I’ve been really successful at feises: so far I’ve won 15 trophies, a whole bunch of medals and 2 sashes. In the July school holidays I’m going to the Gold Coast to compete in the Australian International Oireachtas (AIO) which is a big competition. In August I will compete in the Victorian State Championships, and if I get top 3 at that I will qualify for the World Championships which are in Dublin, Ireland in 2020. That would be really exciting.

I love Irish dancing because I like winning trophies and I’ve made lots of friends. It’s also a great sport that keeps me fit and strong.
