FOOTBALL MATCH ST ANNES VERSUS SEAFORD PARK 19/8/2022 ROUND 5

SCORES:

St Anne’s: 9 goals, 11 behinds, Total 65

Seaford Park: 1 goal, 0 behinds Total 6

This week the Team travelled to Seaford Park Primary for a match up against a close neighbouring school.

We played 4 x 10-minute quarters and supplied three of our students to Seaford Park each quarter to even up the sides in numbers.

Jack got the first goal of the match kicking truly from a tight angle. Captain Nick also kicked truly giving us 2 goals in total for the first quarter. The football seemed to be falling our way with all the players getting their hands on the ball. Unfortunately, we didn’t capitalize on the goal kicking count as we kicked inaccurately booting 2 goals and 5 behinds for the quarter.

In the second quarter we had Hazel dominating in the ruck contest and Seb was ferocious across the half back line thwarting many opposition forward thrusts. We managed 4 behinds for the quarter with the Seaford Park players putting enormous pressure on our attacking plays. Isaac, Charlie, Sam, Griffin and others were getting plenty of the footy.

Cooper, Patrick and Ocean were playing well in defence keeping Seaford Park scoreless for the quarter.

In the third quarter Nick, Gak, Hazel and Harvey were gathering possessions at will, with Isaac collecting the football via a lovely scoop off the ground then dodging an opposition player and slotting the footy through for a superb goal on the run. Charlie managed a hard ball get in the forward 20-meter area and weaved his way through heavy traffic to put another major on the score board. Seb chimed in with a late quarter goal from the pocket much to the delight of his teammates as he was mobbed by them to celebrate his extraordinary effort.

Jos, Will, Sai, Aaron, Alex and Ethan were all playing their role and did their bit to help give us a handy lead going into the last term.

In the last quarter the Jax move forward paid off immediately with him booting his first goal for St Anne’s and his team mates celebrated the moment joyfully with him. Hazel kicked truly for Seaford Park scoring their only goal of the day. Fantastic stuff by Hazel showing great sportsmanship by giving 100% efforts whilst donning the opposing team’s jersey to even up the numbers. We had 12or so players playing a quarter each for Seaford Park and I couldn’t be prouder of how they conducted themselves whilst representing our school. Jack finished off with a best on ground performance kicking 2 goals for the quarter bringing his total to 4 goals and 3 behinds for the day he proudly told me. I explained to him that it was a most outstanding performance and that his overhead one grab mark whilst leaping forwards was my favourite play of the day.
