ARTS ELECTIVE:

Visual Art

Year 9

What is the subject about?

This elective introduces students to studio art practice through engaging with a variety of art forms including, drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Students investigate art themes, materials, techniques and processes.

We research artists and art movements for Inspiration and learn how to annotate and evaluate their own art practice in a visual diary.  Art vocabulary and analyses are integrated into the student’s art practice and are paramount for art comprehension and folio development.

Students explore the addition and reduction methods of sculpture and how to plan and draw models before experimenting and choosing materials and methods. We safely use materials like clay, wire, stone, plaster, soap, wax and recycled materials.
