We are pleased to share with the school community that CatholicCare have appointed Sahithi Chintakunta as our School Counsellor. Sahithi will join us next Monday. Please see below for an introduction.  We look forward to welcoming Sahithi to Sacred Heart Kew next week.

Hi everyone! I am Sahithi Chintakunta, the new school counsellor at Sacred Heart Kew. I am a Master of Counselling student at Monash University and am originally from India. I have a background in psychology and ABA therapy and have always been passionate about supporting children in their wellbeing and mental health needs. I hope to work collaboratively with families and teachers during my time here, so please feel free to reach out to me anytime. I would be happy to speak with you.

Uniform Shop – Friday 9 September

The pre-loved uniform shop will be open again on Friday 9 September from 8.30am-9.00am.

This will be a good chance to stock up on summer uniform items before the kids transition from their winter uniform to summer uniform early in Term 4.

We would love good quality (and recently cleaned) donations of all sizes. No shoe, socks or bags. Card only. No cash please.

Gus Gordon visit

We also welcomed author and illustrator Gus Gordon to Sacred Heart last Monday. Gus Gordon is an internationally acclaimed illustrator and author. He has illustrated and written over 80 books for children. His illustrations are known for their loose and energetic line work, mixed media and humour.

Gus’s first picture book, Wendy, was a Notable Book in the 2010 Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Picture Book of the Year Awards. His second picture book, Herman and Rosie, now published in twelve countries, has been internationally acclaimed and awarded, including the CBCA Honour award for best picture book in 2013. Somewhere Else, which was published in November 2016, is an irresistible story about a duck called George, the possibility of adventure, and taking risks to realise what you value most in life.

The students listened to Gus talk about his love of reading and writing, and learnt how to illustrate simple book characters.

Scholastic Book Fair

A huge thank you to all students and families who bought books and other items from the Book Fair. We sold $4720.96 worth of Book Fair items which will contribute to purchasing resources from Scholastic for our school. We thank you for your support.
