A Message from Keir & Emma

We would like to acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present and emerging.

Book Week

Our Book Week celebrations were a great success! The dress-up day was a real highlight. We had two parades, one for our Foundation and Senior students and one for our Junior and Middle students. We appreciate the effort that all students put into their costumes. We also loved seeing our teachers get into the spirit too. Along with our parade, the students enjoyed an author talk and a book swap. Not only were these two events lots of fun for everyone, but they also linked to our school values of connection, creativity and respect. Well done and thanks to everyone who joined in the Book Week spirit!

Collective Professional Practice day for Teachers

On Friday 16th of September, BNWPS staff will be having a Collective Professional Practice Day. Professional practice days provide teachers with release from their scheduled duties to focus on the improved delivery of high quality teaching and learning. The work that teachers do on these days is consistent with Departmental and school priorities.

Friday 16th September will therefore be a student free day - students are not required to attend school on this day. OSHC will be available (pending enrollment numbers) for those families who need to access this service. We apologise if this seems to be late notice, or if it inconveniences any families.

This means that for BNWPS, term three will finish on Thursday 15th September at 3.30pm.

Head Lice

We have had a few cases of head lice being reported in the community.

The easiest and most effective way to find head lice is to use the conditioner and comb method;

  • Step 1. Comb hair conditioner onto dry, brushed (detangled) hair. This makes it difficult for lice to grip the hair or run around.
  • Step 2. Thoroughly comb sections of the hair with a fine tooth head lice comb.
  • Step 3. Wipe the conditioner from the comb onto a paper towel or tissue.
  • Step 4. Look on the tissue and on the comb for lice and eggs.
  • Step 5. Repeat the combing for every part of the head at least 4 or 5 times.
  • Step 6. If lice or eggs are found, the person should be treated.

No head lice treatment will kill all of the eggs, so it is important to repeat your chosen treatment within seven days.

Parent Opinion Survey

The Parent/carer opinion survey is conducted online and only takes about 15 minutes to complete. It is available in a variety of languages and can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time. All responses to the survey are anonymous.

In the Sentral post that each family received week, there are some instructions for completing the survey including a login code. If you are unable to access the Sentral post, or you require the login code, please contact the front office and they will support you.

The survey must be completed by the 16th September and results will be reported back to our School Council and Leadership Teams towards the end of the year.
