TheRead for your Life reading challenge has come and gone. So many books so little time.
The top classes were:
10.1 KIED the clear winner on 7.7 million words.
8.1 KMRS came in second with 6.6 million words and
7.1 NADJ with 4.4 million words in third place.
Amazing. Even these three classes read over 18 million words between them. That’s the 7 volume Harry Potter series 18 times!
So the pizza lunch will be enjoyed by class 10.1
Nevertheless I would like to congratulate all readers, all classes and teachers who took part. Not only is it true that “the more you read the more you’ll know” but also as you read, the better you will become at reading, no matter where you start and the more pleasure and understanding you will gain and before you know it you will be reading for your life!
Also as part of Book Week, years 7 and 8 enjoyed the visiting author, George Ivanoff – who held the students spellbound not only with his stories and reference to his many books but also telling of the skills and challenges for an author, of where the inspiration comes from, the writing, redrafting, and getting a book published.
Again congratulations to all readers who took part in the reading challenge.
