Write Your Story

Library News and Tristan Banc

BOOK WEEK

Book Week was a huge success (August 21-25) and the English and Library teams delivered an action-packed program for everyone.

On Monday, students and staff took part in a Book Parade dressed up as their favourite characters at recess. There were some very colourful and creative costumes this year. We had Book Trivia at lunchtime where students and staff formed teams and answered questions related to children's and YA literature. Prizes were awarded to the winning team and to students with the most innovative outfits.

On Tuesday 22/8, children's author Tristan Bancks spoke to all Year 7 and 8 students. This was a special treat as Tristan has been incredibly busy since releasing his latest novel 'Scar Town' in recent days. Tristan spoke about his writing career and how he crafted his novel 'Two Wolves', which all our Year 8s study in English. It was so interesting to hear how Tristan wakes every morning and sets himself a daily writing goal. We learnt about how he collects visuals and creates song playlists to help him write. Tristan is a multitalented creative individual who has also been busy making films, writing a screenplay for 'Two Wolves' and would love to see the book being adapted to a television series.

Finally, we also had bookmark making, film screenings, 'Take a floral selfie' activity with Teighan's gorgeous photo frame  and a scavenger hunt during the week.
