Accelerated Learning Program for Students
News from Assistant Principal Selen Atilla
Lalor North Secondary College is developing a pilot accelerated learning program for selected students. After carefully reviewing student learning data and teacher recommendations and feedback, we are pleased to announce to our community that we are accelerating students demonstrating learning above their year level.
Congratulations to the selected students for being identified as a successful candidate for this unique opportunity as this has only been offered to 6 students within the college.
The accelerated learning program will provide selected students with the opportunity to complete additional VCE subjects for an increased study score, and in some cases, it may allow students to complete their secondary schooling earlier than expected. The college will work closely with the student and family to co-construct a program that will be reviewed with rigor and regularly to ensure its success.
Students enrolled into this program will be placed into the same Year 9 Home group and will follow the daily Year 9 timetable. Their elective choices will not be effected. Additionally, students will be provided with a tutorial session in English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities each fortnight for a member of the leadership team who will monitor and inform student progress.
Kind regards,
