Year 2/3 GS Rockets

The GS Rockets suffered their first loss of the season going down 20-30 to the Pedare Sixers.  The Sixers had some very fast players which caught the Rockets off guard.  A lack of concentration at times and poor defensive pressure allowed Pedare to score more than they should have.  Despite the loss, the Rockets never gave up and battled hard all match.  Hunter and Layla both had stand out games.

Scorers: Hunter (10 pts), Layla (8 pts), William (2 pts) Coach: Gavin Dew

Year 4/5 Raptors

The GS Raptors had a very competitive match against the St.David’s Sixers Thursday afternoon with the final result being a 28-28 draw.  Jayden performed extremely well and top scored with 20 pts.  Oscar had a strong impact on the game and used his skillful dribbling to attack the basket.  Blake worked hard all match and Hadassah again took plenty of strong rebounds.

Scorers: Jayden (20 pts), Oscar (8 pts)

GS Little Jordans

Tough game playing our best friends from GS. We exhibited good manners, respect for all players, and played a strong defensive game. Thank you to Xavier for standing in for Thunder we will see you back next week.  Star players: Gabriel and Marcus for scoring points. All other players defended well and shared the ball around.

7&Under GS Stars

Having missed the update last week, this week I have two games to share about. First, though I wanted to share a big thank you to the team of parents who helped cover my absence this week. I was unable to attend training and the game, but I didn’t need to worry as Kylie and Katrina stepped up. And thanks to Luke for coordinating bibs and positions!

The team this week had another wonderful game, everyone brought a really positive and encouraging energy to the court – and their loud voices! Aniko had a brilliant game, such a big jump in confidence and positioned herself well across the whole game, while Poppy was our top goal scorer. The last two weeks we’ve also had Amelia back in the team – welcome back after a long break. Grace, Josh, Macy and Matilda did great work both attacking and defending, with all players contributing to our win! Super proud, and I wish I was there to have seen it all!

Looking back to last week, it was a close game, low scoring, but the GS Stars persisted and we came out on top. The skills in the team are growing with each game, with our passing and leading skills growing in leaps and bounds. As were our voices – calling out names to offer an option for a pass, or to cheer on teammates as they shot a goal or did a great catch!

What a fab team of kids and parents that I get to spend time with every Monday.
