NAPLAN Success

Results for the National Assessment Program, Literacy And Numeracy (NAPLAN) were released last week. At our last School Council Meeting, Councillors had an opportunity to review the results at a year level and whole school level.  While NAPLAN has many critics, it is the best tool our system has to measure the impact of our teaching and learning programs and the effectiveness of our teachers.

I'm thrilled to share fantastic news that makes us all proud. Our students and teachers have truly excelled in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).

Trafalgar Primary School has achieved outstanding results, surpassing both similar schools and our network peers in Reading, Writing, and Numeracy. Our students have shown remarkable dedication and achieved remarkable learning outcomes.

An impressive highlight is our Year 5 students' achievement in Reading, where a remarkable 82% have exceeded age-level expectations. This result builds on our continual improvement and cements our reputation as a high performing school.  These results are especially gratifying as we've focused on improving our Reading efforts recently.

Huge thanks to our wonderful teachers at all levels for their hard work and dedication in preparing our students. Your commitment shines through in our students' progress.

This achievement reflects the combined efforts of teachers, students, and parents. Together, we've created an environment where everyone can thrive and achieve.

Let's celebrate this success, recognising the effort and determination that got us here. Our students' performance in NAPLAN highlights their potential and bright futures.

Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to Trafalgar Primary School. Let's continue working together to nurture our students' talents and dreams.

Trafalgar Primary School's Unforgettable Camp Adventures

I am excited to share with you the incredible journeys we have embarked upon over the past couple of weeks. It has been an absolute pleasure for our principal team to accompany our eager and enthusiastic students on their unforgettable camp experiences.

3/4 Camp at Cowes: A Coastal Expedition

Our 3rd and 4th-grade students set out on a remarkable coastal expedition to Cowes, where they immersed themselves in a world of discovery, exploration, and bonding. Against the stunning backdrop of pristine beaches and rolling waves, our young adventurers delved into a range of engaging activities that challenged their minds and bodies.

From team-building challenges to walks on the beach, the students showcased incredible teamwork and strengthened their resilience. The joy and laughter that echoed through the campsite were truly heart-warming to witness. It's moments like these that shape our students into well-rounded individuals, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and a sense of accomplishment that will stay with them for years to come.

5/6 Camp in Canberra: A Capital Exploration

This week our 5th and 6th-grade students embarked on an educational expedition to our nation's capital, Canberra. The camp was not only a fun-filled adventure but also a valuable opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding of our country's history, culture, and governance.

Exploring iconic landmarks such as Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, and the National Gallery, our students were immersed in rich learning experiences that brought their classroom learning to life. They engaged in insightful discussions, asked thought-provoking questions, and gained a new appreciation for the world around them.

These camp experiences would not have been possible without the dedication of our incredible staff, whose tireless efforts ensured the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of our students throughout the trips.

As we reflect on the memories created and the skills honed during these camps, we are reminded of the importance of experiential learning. These adventures have empowered our students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges, and develop life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

I extend my gratitude to our students for their enthusiasm, to our staff for their commitment, and to our parents for their ongoing support, including the parent volunteers whom attended each camp.

You can read more about the students experiences of Cowes Camp in this newsletter and we look forward to reading about the year 5.6 students experiences in our next edition!
