Learning In My Level

A celebration of what's happening across the school!

FOUNDATION

Happy Birthday Milo, a Puppet Performance and 100 Days of School!

Congratulations Foundation! All students have been working hard to learn the basic sounds of the alphabet. They are now working on decoding text to read and using their knowledge to sound out words when writing. This brilliant achievement was celebrated in Week 2 with Milo Monkey’s Birthday Surprise. Foundation students brought along a favourite soft toy that started with a sound of the alphabet. Some were even the same as the Little Learners characters that have been supporting Foundation students to learn these sounds. Foundation enjoyed party games such as pin the tail on Milo, pass the parcel and word hunts and following this, a scrumptious party lunch.

In Week 3 on Monday afternoon, Foundation students were highly entertained at a puppet show presented by ‘Don’t Move Puppet Theatre’, showcasing the mastery and magic of puppetry. Following the show, John (the puppet master) revealed some of his best-kept performance secrets. Students were shown how a puppet theatre works behind the scenes. John also demonstrated the different ways puppets can be made and how they move. The fun continued during the following week, when students had the opportunity to make their very own puppet.

On Wednesday 2nd August, Foundation students celebrated being at school for 100 days. Students have definitely been working hard in Foundation, as they looked 100 years old! Dress ups were absolutely fantastic and added to the fun of this festive day. Students spent the day engaged in writing about what it might be like to be 100 years old. They completed counting and sorting activities with their 100 items from home. They created their very own 100 Days at School crown which they wore with pride. A favourite activity by many was making (and eating) fairy bread, made with 100’s and 1000’s of course!

Also, don’t forget that Rangeview’s popular Book Week celebration day and dress up parade is coming up on Friday 25th August. We look forward to seeing Foundation students dressed up as a favourite book character.
