Wellbeing & Engagement

Today is a great day to be you!

Never quiet at Rangeview!

There has been so much happening across the school over the past couple of weeks! As always, life at Rangeview is very busy for staff and students - but also very fun!

From an engagement perspective, the many additional extra-curricular events we have had on continue to provide our students with wonderful opportunities - which go beyond what happens in the classroom.

Our girls and boys soccer teams have taken inspiration from the Matildas at the World Cup and have done themselves extremely proud with their recent performances at a high level. Our mixed netball team continues to fire, and our Year 5 and 6 girls also recently participated at the annual gala footy day, achieving outstanding results. As we know though, it isn't all about results - more importantly, all students involved in these events consistently showed true Rangeview spirit in the way they conducted themselves, such as the teamwork and sportsmanship on display.

Our Foundation students have been an audience for a very funny puppet show, and have now also had a go at creating their own puppets in some very hands-on workshops. They also celebrated their 100th day at school last week! This was a very exciting day and a wonderful milestone for our youngest students to reach.

Our Year 1 and 2 students have participated in Mad About Science incursions, and will also soon be going to Como House for an excursion.

Year 4 - Camp Weekaway

Our Year 4 students have had a brilliant time at Camp Weekaway over the last three days! It has been a pleasure attending this camp with this group and I have loved seeing first-hand the excitement, risk-taking, support and encouragement each day. Students have faced many new experiences, such as the flying fox, canoeing, archery, ropes course, and many more - and all of them have done their best to step out of the comfort zone and give everything a go. We also saw some incredible performances at the Talent Show!

These amazing extra-curricular experiences simply could not happen without the dedication and hard work of our wonderful staff and parents. Thank you to Mr Le, Miss Cormack, Mrs Hastie, Mrs Wood, Mrs Mugnier, Mrs Balderston and Ms Ferguson, along with our fantastic parent helpers - Anna, Ian, Tesh and Javed - for giving up these three days to support our students and make sure they had an absolute ball.

Finally, a huge thank you to Mrs Mehta. Mrs Mehta, as Year 4 camp coordinator, put in months of behind-the-scenes work to plan this camp. Countless hours were spent dotting every 'i' and crossing every 't' - her organisation is really second-to-none and we are so appreciative for her hard work.

We hope all the kids sleep well this weekend!

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

Miss Danielle Anderson and I had the pleasure of representing the Department on Monday afternoon, presenting to numerous other schools in the region about our 4Rs program and how it links to School Culture. We are very proud of the work our staff has done in this space and it was a great opportunity to share 'what works' at Rangeview and how we go about building a positive and inclusive school culture. Our school data from the Student Attitudes Survey, and last year's Staff and Parent Opinion Surveys, highlight outstanding achievements in the area of School Culture.

In our presentation, we discussed:

  • Language/terminology used within a school setting
  • A school's vision, values and beliefs
  • Creating a sense of connectedness and belonging
  • A school's structures and policies
  • School programs (such as TRP, Peaceful Kids, wellbeing lessons)
  • Use of school data to analyse/address culture and set goals
  • Impact of school leadership on cultural change/growth

At the end of the day, building a positive school culture and creating the conditions and environment for our staff to be at their best, will naturally then flow on to students to also be at their best.  Some key components of school culture, as contributed by those in attendance at the workshop, can be seen below!

Term 3 Working Bee

Once again, we are requesting some assistance from our wonderful school community for our Term 3 Working Bee - which will be held on Sunday September 10th from 9am-12pm. Whilst we will be onsite for the full three hours, even just volunteering one hour of your time would be so greatly appreciated.

Please see the flyer below for more information!

Fathering Project - LEGO Masters Event

Then later on the same day - Sunday September 10th, our Fathering Project team will once again run a LEGO Masters Event for our school community! This will be held in the school hall from 1:00pm-5:00pm.

We are very excited to offer this experience once again - thank you to our Fathering Project leader, Simon, for his dedication to offering opportunities for families to come together and have some fun.

Once again, our very own Grand Master Ryan Evans will be in attendance to offer his support and expertise. We would love to see as many families get down to the school as possible to make the most of this opportunity. Note: Children must, at all times, be accompanied and supervised by a parent (this is not a 'drop-and-go' event).

In order to take part, you will need to register via the trybooking link - which you can access by scanning this QR code or simply click on this link.
