SRC - ' BULLYING NO WAY'

Student Sports Precinct

As you may know, the SRC has been working with the Principal Team and College Council to develop a Student Sports Precinct at our school. This facility will be built at the back of the school, to the left of the hockey pitch (refer to the aerial image of this location below). After receiving feedback from the entire student body on what they would like to see in this precinct, as well as in consultation with the sport and physical education department, the tentative plan is to include:

  • A full-sized basketball/netball court (with interchangeable hoops)
  • A futsal court
  • A volleyball/badminton court
  • A seating/social area

This will not only be an incredible space for students to enjoy during break times but will be used as a teaching facility for PE and Outdoor Ed classes. It will also allow our school to further connect with the wider community and enhance partnerships with local clubs by providing facilities that can be hired outside of school hours.

We are extremely excited about this project and are keen to get this underway in order to improve the school’s facilities for students. We are seeking support from you, as the wider BSC community, in order to make this happen. We will be opening up fundraising event and would appreciate whatever you are able to/comfortable donating to help this venture become a reality. Be on the look out!

'Bullying No Way'

This year, Bullying No Way Day is on the 18th of August. In past years, both students and staff have had the chance to buy hoodies and t-shirts to support the cause. This year, we expanded the range to hoodies, badges and socks, and ran a competition to give students an opportunity to take part in the design process. The winners of the competition were Chris Jara and Taneisha Clack, so congratulations to both of you for making such wonderful designs!

Unfortunately ordering for these items ended last week, but we would love to give a huge thank you to everyone who did purchase something to show support for the cause.

Just a reminder, the badge is allowed to be worn on the uniform all the time, the socks can be worn for the whole of bullying no way week, and the hoodie can only be worn on bullying no way day.

The SRC also ran a competition to design artwork for digital postcards that will be given to students to celebrate achievements or showing school values. The winners of the competition are (and if you could please come up to the front to receive their prize): Cassandra Rodda, Maria-Jose Hernandez, Xavier Warren, Izzy Credaro, Kalila Vazquez and Hannah Fridman. Congratulations to all of you!

Finally, you may have also seen some posters put around the school about the SRC. We just want to remind everyone that anyone is welcome to come to the SRC, and we would love to hear new opinions and ideas from anyone who would like to share. The SRC has the opportunity to work on lots of projects to help improve the school, including the current sports facility renovation project that is currently underway.
