Japanese:  

ウケる (ukeru) is a word that is the Japanese equivalent to 'LOL'. It's often used online but can be used in person, too. If a friend does something pretty silly in front of you, in Japanese you might respond with 'マジで? ウケる!', which basically means 'You really did that? That's hilarious!'. It's a fun word to say with your friends to practice Japanese in everyday speech!

Ça marche is a very common informal expression that means “It/That works”. By extension, it’s also commonly used to mean "That works for me! / That's Okay!" when making plans.

Gion Festival (Kyoto)

This is one of the three most celebrated seasonal festivals in Japan, held by the Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto. The festival’s highpoint is a 3-km long parade of "mikoshi" floats, one of them bearing a local boy who was chosen to be the divine messenger that year

 

Tenjin Matsuri

Matsuri itself means festival. This particular festival, which is celebrated in Tenmangu Shrine in Osaka, starts with a traditional procession at the temple, followed by parades through the city. On the second day, the celebration continues with a river procession. The festival finishes with a huge fireworks display.

Instituted in 1880, 14 July is a very popular date that is celebrated all over France.

During the day, a military parade is organised in Paris between the Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde, via the Champs-Élysées. Military ceremonies also take place in many towns in the country.
