Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Prayer

In light of the tragic events this week in North Queensland, where four men lost their lives going about their high risk jobs serving our nation, we pray for all workers that they stay safe and return to their families each night after serving the community with the work they undertake.

Congratulations Bethany

Followers of our school Instagram and Facebook pages will be aware of the great news we were able to share on Monday, of Bethany's engagement to Brandon. We are all so happy for Bethany as she prepares for this next very exciting stage in her life. Congratulations Bethany and Brandon, we wish you both every happiness.

Altar Servers

Father Eloysius is very keen to train some of our students from Years Three to Year Five to be altar servers at the 10.30am Sunday morning Mass. Students who are interested will commence preparing with Father Eloysius each Thursday afternoon at 2.30pm for about forty minutes in the Church until they are ready. I will be with these students whilst they prepare with Father. It is anticipated that when the students are ready to serve, they will be rostered on once a month. So far we have about seven students who have indicated they would like to serve and their parents have given permission. If there are any other students from these year levels who would like to be involved and you give permission, just email me before next Thursday when we will commence practicing.

Our school production which happens every two years will be held again this year on a date to be determined in Term Four. Kate is currently working with our staff planning a format that will allow our students to highlight their skills and provide an opportunity to perform showcasing their natural enthusiasm. More details will follow as they are finalised.

Lunch Time Drawing Club

Lunch time clubs have been a characteristic of Sacred Heart School during my time at our school (and I am sure for many years before my tenure). The clubs are initiated by teachers and their passions and on other occasions by our students themselves. Our current Pokemon Club was initiated by Marty after seeing the passion of some of our students playing with the cards in the yard. Yesterday the lunch time Drawing Club commenced. This idea was initiated by our Year Three students Natalie, Caitlin and Azariah (who have since been joined by Kushi) who approached me earlier this term with the idea of forming such a club. Well done girls and if yesterday's turnout is any indication, the Drawing Club like our Pokemon Club will have a long existence.

Wonder Recycling Rewards For Schools

A big thank you to our parent Prem who coordinated the "Wonder Recycling Rewards for Schools" program, which will see our school earn some very valuable new sport's equipment. Thanks to Prem's energy, the collection of used bread bags, in particular by the Haley family, we can look forward to some shinny new equipment arriving in the coming weeks.
